The Week of Nov. 14 - Nov. 18

What a busy week we had last week. We had so much fun on our field trip to Dewbery Farms. Here are a couple of our friends writings over what they saw.

In Math we are learning about fractions and ordinals. In Kindergarten we just learn about half and whole. We also add the words first, second, third, fourth and fifth to our vocabulary as we put things in order.

In Science, we are talking about plants still. Ask your child about our science word of the week!

During Reader's Workshop we are adding the words yes, am and no to our word wall. Our word family of the week is the -am family. I will send home another note this week if your child still does not know all their yellow words. Use the flash cards I sent home last week to practice! Students who know all their yellow words will be receiving their blue words next. I will be testing again next Friday. Our goal is to have our whole class know all of our words! We will be using different reading strategies to decode words we don't know.

In Writer's Workshop we are working on writing stories about ourselves and editing them. We want to be using our sight words in our writing regularly.

During Social Studies we are learning about how holidays and traditions. This week we will be learning about the pilgrims and how our lives are much different than theirs.
