The Week of Oct. 17 - Oct. 21

I hope everyone had a great, restful weekend!

This week in Math we are learning about counting to ten. Make sure you keep counting at home and practicing different ways to make sets of numbers (ex. 4 and 2 make 6, 3 and 3 make 6).

In Science we are starting our unit on Plants. We already started exploring seeds today. Check out one of our Rocket's great observations of a wet and dry lima been.

In Reading Workshop we are continuing learning our sight words. This weeks words are is, in and my. We are studying the -in word family. We are also looking for sight words in our books at school so to practice at home have your child point out sight words in books you are reading together. I also found a fun game online to practice beginning sounds. It's called Alphabet Goop. Try it out!

In Writing Workshop we are continuing to encourage students to use word wall words and turtle talk to write about small moments or memories.

In Social Studies we are learning about the difference between wants and needs.
