The Week of Oct. 24 - Oct. 28

Wow, I can't believe we are already in the second 9 weeks, this year is flying by!

During Math time we are still working on counting groups to ten and finding different ways to make ten. Students are still working in their workstation groups and also meeting with me for guided math practice in small groups.

In Science we are waiting to see our lima been seeds grow! Check out this great lima bean diagram by one of our Rockets! This week will be looking at and exploring pumpkins.

During Reader's Workshop we will be adding and, love and have. We will be brainstorming words that belong in the -ot word family. We will also be working on finding a quiet spot in the room to read to ourselves. Starting this week we will be getting together with our friends in Ms. Bowen's 2nd grade class to read to each other. We are very excited to meet our reading buddies!

In Writer's Workshop we are working on taking a small moment and stretching it out to write a nice detailed story.

We are finished with our unit on wants and needs, check out these great thinking maps by two of our friends that compared our shelter with the shelters of different animals. Now in Social Studies we are going to begin learning about different jobs and careers.

During computer lab we visited a new site called Brain Pop Jr, the link is at the bottom of this page. The username is AZFleming and the password is brainpop. There are lots of really neat Science videos on there to check out!

Homework: Read 10-20 minutes with your child and record it in their red folder. Don't forget to send back your child's library book in the library bag for library on Wednesday!

Important Dates:
Oct. 27- Multicultural Night, don't forget to send back the paper dolls wearing your culture's clothing!
